Zum zweiten Mal Corona-Weihnachten. Wenig erfreulich, trotzdem gilt es das Beste aus der Situation zu machen. Feiern wir einfach eine Stunde mit rockigen Weihnachts-Songs, lassen wir uns so in dieser vorweihnachtlichen Zeit ein bisschen in Stimmung bringen.

Zum letzten Mal blicken wir in diesem Jahr 50 Jahre zurück und schauen, was der Dezember 1971 an Neuigkeiten hervorgebracht hat. Und da gab es noch einiges Bemerkenswertes u.a. von David Bowie, den Wings und dem Electric Light Orchestra (mit ihrem Debutalbum).

 

Außerdem veröffentlichte George Harrison noch den Mitschnitt vom Concert for Bangla Desh.

Sendung 666 - das ist unverkennbar die Nummer des Teufels. Daher widme ich diese „vorweihnachtliche“ rund um den Nikolaus und Krampus ndung diesem Thema. Der Teufel wurde in unzähligen Songs musikalisch verewigt. Ich beginne natürlich – wie könnte es auch anders sein - mit „The Number of The Beast“ von Iron Maiden. Der Bogen spannt sich dann weiter von den Rolling Stones über Black Sabbath bis zu Alice Cooper, um nur einige zu nennen.

Nr. 665 – DEEP PURPLE: Turing To Crime (2021) with Ian Gillan

                  

Deep Purple´s brand new album “Turning To Crime” (release date 26 ^th of November is quite unique in the band´s history. The 22^nd album of the band contains only cover songs, which in a way is a crime ;). Therefore the album title.

 

I had the great pleasure to talk to Ian Gillan about the new album, and together with the legendary vocalist I´ll present the album, which was produced again by Bob Ezrin. 

 

The choice of songs is very interesting one. You´ll find tracks  on it originally released amongst others by Cream, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Lonnie Donegan, Bob Seger and Mitch Ryder. And they have been - as Ian Gillan put it – purpelized.

 

In my opinion the new album is a very enjoyable experience and highly recommendable.

 

So we let it rock and rock on!
