Nr. 679 – R.I.P. Gary Brooker

 

Ein weiterer großer Musiker hat uns am 19. Febraur verlassen: Gary Brooker ist nicht mehr. Der britische Sänger und Pianist wurde vor allem als Gründer der Gruppe Procul Harum bekannt, mit der er 1967 den Welthit „A Whiter Shade Of Pale“ feiern konnte.

 

Wir blicken zurück auf das musikalische Schaffen von Gary mit und ohne Procul Harum.

Vor kurzem erschien von der amerikanischen RockBand GRAND FUNK RAILROAD ein Live-Mitschnitt aus dem Jahr 1982: „Up All Night – Live , Ohio ´82“.

 

Neben zahlreichen Klassikern der Band wie „Paranoid“ und „Heartbreaker“ sind auch einige Songs des im Jahr 1981 erschienen Wiedervereinigungsalbums „Grand Funk Lives“ darauf enthalten. 

 

Die Besetzung der Band im Jahr 1982:

Nr. 676 – Songs from the Past: 50 and 35 years old

 

 

Heute erstmals eine Sendung, in der ich einne Rückblick auf zwei Jahre machen. Dies sind einerseits das Jahr 1972 (auf dem heuer weiterhin mein Schwerpunkt liegen wird), und 1987.

 

Im Februar, also ziemlich genau vor 50 Jahren, erschienen mit Neil Young´s „Harvest“ und „Eat A Peach“ von The Allman Brothers Band zwei wahre Meisterwerke.

 

Beim Blick 35 Jahre zurück schauen wir auf das erste Quartal: da erschien im Jänner von Deep Purple das zweite Wiedervereinigungsalbum der Mark II-Besetzung: „House Of Blue Light“. Im Februar kam dann von Santana „Freedom“ mit Buddy Miles an den Vocals, dem ehemaligen Schlagzeuger von Jimi Hendrix heraus, und schließlich erschien dann im März von Gary Moore dessen einziges Celtic Rock-Album „Wild Frontier“

 

In diesem Sinne: We let it rock and rock on!
